Academy of Realist Art

The Academy of Realist Art, Boston is an art school that teaches traditional art techniques in drawing classes as well as painting classes, using a curriculum that is modeled on 19th century French academies. Students receive individualized practical instruction advancing at their own pace while working to achieve the highest levels of draftsmanship and painting skills. This intensive and focused teaching methodology has a proven record of success with students enrolling as beginners and those more advanced.



Maude Morgan Arts

Children, teens, and established and emerging artists of all ages and all levels create, teach, exhibit, and collaborate at Maud Morgan Arts. All who value the visual arts — young and old, beginner and professional — can choose from a wide range of innovative and imaginative visual art classes and programs. Here, you can study with some of Boston’s finest professional artists in studios purposely designed for ceramics, printmaking, painting/drawing, and sculpture. You can attend life drawing sessions, workshops, film screenings, or rent a studio for independent work.

Black Pond Studio

Black Pond Studio hosts classes and workshops in painting, drawing and other disciplines in a newly constructed solar-powered barn. The barn/studio sits on 40 acres of meadow, forest and wetlands in rural southeastern Massachusetts, about a 20-minute drive from Providence, Rhode Island, and about 60 minutes from Boston, Massachusetts. A spring-fed pond is steps from the barn.

Essex Art Center

Located in a repurposed mill building in Lawrence, EAC offers a variety of courses from drawing, painting and digital photography to clay, stained glass, sculpture and animation.
